OTC KIDS

Old Town Church wants to show kids who God is by loving them well and teaching them God's Word.

OTC KIDS VALUES

  • We teach God’s Word in a fun, interactive, and encouraging way so that kids begin to see and understand God’s character and basic foundational truths can be introduced in an age-appropriate way.

  • We use gospel-centered curriculum to teach kids that the Bible is God’s true, holy, and trustworthy word. We believe kids can learn the basic truths of the faith even at a young age and we incorporate these truths into all parts of our kids’ ministry.

  • We seek Jesus’ guidance in planning all parts of OTC Kids. We regularly pray that our kids will see God at work in their lives, trust in Jesus, and depend on the power of the Holy Spirit to equip them with everything they need.

  • God created kids as unique gifts whom he loves. We want kids to learn that God’s greatest love is expressed in the gospel and it is the privilege of every OTC Kids volunteer to be able to share the gospel with the kids in our care.

SAFETY AND HEALTH

SAFETY

The safety and care of your child is our highest priority. For this reason, we have appropriately qualified leaders who have been assessed and trained to work with children.

VOLUNTEERS

We require all of our volunteers to submit a background check, submit an application, and attend ongoing training. They love Jesus and are looking forward to serving you and your family.

HEALTH

Children must be free from fever or symptoms of contagious disease for 24 hours. Let us know of any allergies or medical conditions your child may have.

CHILD PICK-UP

Parents must present the correct security tag before we release their child. No one is allowed pick up a child without the correct security tag.

KIDS DISCIPLESHIP

Birth - 1st Grade
Sundays at 10:00am

We offer classes for our littlest ones on Sunday mornings during corporate worship. We teach the gospel in an engaging, age-appropriate way with a weekly Bible story, worship songs, and group activities to reinforce the lesson. We currently use The Gospel Project curriculum which teaches the Bible as one unified story that tells us about God’s plan to save people from their sin by sending His Son Jesus to rescue us.

2nd - 5th Grade
Wednesdays at 6:45pm

Older elementary kids meet on Wednesday nights at “Midweek.” They meet in small groups led by adult leaders to learn about the Bible and how it applies to their lives. The goal is to help kids grow in their love for God, their understanding of the gospel, and their faithfulness to living on mission for Christ.

SUNDAY CHECK-IN

  1. Upon arriving, look for the OTC Kids logo on the back wall of our lobby, or ask a Connections team member in a blue shirt for assistance.

  2. At Check-In, one of our volunteers will help you register your child and you will receive a numbered security tag. We highly value the safety and security of the children in our care; therefore your security tag is needed to pick up your child following the worship service and ensures that children are only dismissed to the adult who checked them in.

  3. From Check-In you will take your child to their assigned classroom and have the opportunity to check out our OTC Kids environments and meet those who will be serving your child.

  4. After service, you will pick your child up from their classroom by giving an OTC Kids volunteer your security tag.

KIDS IN CORPORATE WORSHIP

At Old Town Church, we value corporate worship for all ages. We believe that children are a vital part of the worshiping community, and we encourage all children in 2nd grade and above to attend worship with their parents. Worshipping together is one of the most spiritually beneficial practices a family can adopt. It is a time to come together as a family to praise God, learn from his Word, and be encouraged by his presence.

We recognize that this can sometimes be challenging for families. Children may not always be able to sit still or be quiet for the entire service. However, we believe that the benefits of corporate worship far outweigh the challenges.

To help families worship together, we have compiled a few resources. These resources include tips for helping children participate in worship, as well as ideas for making corporate worship more enjoyable for everyone. We hope these resources will encourage you to bring your children to worship. Together, we can experience the joy of worshiping God as a family.
